Strange Idea 275/55/17 or 275/60/17???

Ok here is the deal I set the car up to run on a 28.5" tall drag tire. Now I am looking for a Set of tires to put on the 17" rims I use everyday so I can change the speedo gear in the trans and have it be 100% on the money all the time. I have ROH 17X8.5 wide Rims with 275/40/17's on them now (25.6" tall)
I need to get to at least a 28" tall 17" rim tire. Anyone know if this will work or has anyone tried?? Sugestions?? Ideas?? am I nuts?? lol I know these are going to be more street/truck style tires but most of the Dry style I look at on Tire Rack are all more car like than Truck

Any Info ideas tire sizes will be helpfull

All of these sizes will get you very close to a 28.5" tall tire. Not sure if a tire in the size is available. At least you have a reference.

275/55s will do it. They look pretty good as well. A friend runs them on his Chevelle. They are mostly a sport truck/light SUV tire but there are a few out there with decent looking tread. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...e&partnum=755WR7ADST&fromCompare1=yes&place=4

Just want to be able to Change the Speedo gear and have the VSS Reading 100%
