It's unfortunate that they died over a suspended license. I'm not glad that happened, but I am glad the cops did what was needed. Innocent people were placed at risk by his running.

The PIT manuever isn't intended to be used on vehicles traveling at 80mph, it is for slower speeds where the vehicle can be safely incapacitated without extensive damage. I imagine there is a very healthy lawsuit going on over the use of it in this case, I also imagine that the courts will find that the Police department acted recklessly. What would have it taken for another car to get in front of the pathfinder to slow it to a safe speed to apply the PIT maneuver?? Not much!!! Can a pathfinder actually out accelerate a cop car??? Didn't think so!!!

The speeder was an idiot. It doesn't matter what manuver they tried she wouldn't have stopped. The passenger was the real victim, of her stupidity. His parents should sue her estate-if she has any.

So whats the deal with the Viper driver? I didnt see any brakes lock, no skid marks, no obvious mechanical failure, nothing.....just looks like the drive decided to take a hard left into the wall.

The PIT manuever vid should show you that any time you want to run from the cops pick either a faster vehicle or one that outweighs a crown vic by several thousand pounds. Last I checked you had to be an adult (at least on paper) to get a lic and those ppl made the decision to run which, tragically, ended their lives but no one held their foot on the accelerator pedal against their will either.

She should have stopped and was responsible for her own death. After 60+ miles of her endangering every person on the road she demonstrated an intent of not stopping.

I bet you'd be complaining about the cops not stopping her if she would have continued and killed one of your loved ones on that freeway.

It plain sucks it ended the way it did but she was playing a very deadly game. I'm just glad she didn't take out an innocent motorist. Sometimes bad decisions have tragic results. Place blame where it belongs and it ain't with the cops. Red/Blue/White lights mean pull over.
