I have a several issues I haven't been able to chase down and they all may be interrelated.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thank you.
- My engine starts right up from a cold start (not cold air temperature). Runs smooth for about 15 - 20 seconds. After that it starts surging really bad. Almost to the point of dying. I can keep it running buy working the throttle. Once it fully warms up is idles fine.
- Engine idles fine once warmed up. I has a bit of an off idle stumble such as when accelerating away from a light. Once off idle and past the stumble it seems to run fine.
- I have a handheld infrared thermometer. As part of my troubleshooting I measured the temperature of each header tube at the head. 4 of the 6 measure at about 400 degrees. 2 of them measure at around 200 degrees. Clearly the 2 that are around 200 degrees are not firing correctly. I removed a spark plug from a cylinder that was around 400 degrees and one from a cylinder that around 200 degrees (see picture below). The one on the right is from the cold cylinder. The opposite side of the porcelain of the cold plug is white very similar to the plug on the left.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thank you.
