Sy/ Ty Questions...

Okay, my brother has asked me to ask any of you a few questions.

-The NP231 Transfercase. Is this considered the AWD transfer case or is there a totally different transfer case supplying AWD?
-How does AWD on the truck not chop up the tires like 4WD does?

My brother would like to build a rendition of a turbo 4.3 GMC truck. However, he would like to learn more information about the Sy/Ty than what the latest issue of GM Tech Performance is supplying. Is there some kind of reference guide he could buy?

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated.

Since no one has replied, I can only assume no one knows the answer.

So here's what I found out: The AWD unit is different all together from the NP231 Transfercase. NP231 is 4WD, but the AWD allows for slip in the front wheels which the NP231 does NOT allow, thus chopping up the front wheels.

Also, lowering is accomplished by cranking down the torsion bars and removing certain leaf springs. ;)

Thanks  I figured since I own the turbo Regal, and my brother wanted the info on the truck, I'd be able to find info on both at one site. I really don't know too many Sy/Ty sites, but I'll definitely check that one out.

Thanks again.
