T/A Perf Alum Buick/heads update

The first production run of blocks is underway. They have been cast and are in process for machining. Other items like liners, plugs, caps, etc. have been ordered so they can be assembled. Many deposits have been received so this production run is almost sold. Anyone wanting one, should get in line now. The next run may be late this year or into next. Delivery will start in about a month.

The design and patterns for the heads have been released for pouring the castings for the first sets. The one casting will be used for Street Intimidator [SI] stock-type heads and Street Eliminator [SE] 14 bolt heads.

The SI heads will use a 13/16" rocker shaft like stock or roller rockers. Ports will be matched to stock intake and exhaust gaskets. The valves will be SBC 1.94" intake and 1.60" exhaust with spring installed height of 1.90".

The SE heads use the same valves but ports are matched to Felpro 1200 intake and 1400 exhaust. A steel "stand" will be used for 5/8" rocker shaft and specific rockers will be needed for correct valve train geometry and operation since the valves/stand have been moved from the stock location for better much flow.

Both heads are made extremely strong with about 5/8" thick combustion chamber dimension. They have been designed to RELIABILY develop 1200+ horsepower.

I should have a set of pre-production within a week for final assembly and flow testing. They will then be installed on a street GN for testing and fit. Plans are to have a production set available for the Norwak and Bowling Green events in May. The data of flow will be posted as soon as available.

Do we have a final price of the block yet?
Thanks for giving us the update Nick

Nick,

So basically the block and heads will be released to John Q. Public before any dyno or real world testing is done?

geez...

Must you always be on the "negative" when this subject comes up?
Thank goodness TA Performance is continuing development with our cars. How about showing some support or go buy a Honda.

Thanks Nick.

Get one to duttweiler ASAP?
I want 1600hp

Thought I said the heads would be installed after bench testing? This is before release for sale, sorry.

These heads are an "improved" design over the M&A's which have run at 40 psi many times. All I really need to check is actual flow numbers and physical fit since the valve cover gasket rail has been raised. Most of the increase in material/strength is inside.

The first 2 pre-production blocks are going together for the same reasons, fit and compatibility. No, we are not going to spend $100k on dyno testing. Ken D. has the on-center block going together and we will do the off-center here for install in a street legal 10 sec. GN.

The "experts" have predicted this alum block is stronger than a stage II block upon which it is based. The orders so far are not from anyone going to attempt to exceed that limit. If you have the $$$$$ and time to do a build to a HP level that would do damage to this block, let me know and we might do a "special deal" for you!

Tracer, according to www.whiteracing.com the TA block (On or Off-Center) is $3500 and I'm pretty sure the aluminum heads will be selling for around $1500 to $2000....

What was so negative about asking a legitimate question that I would hope most bucking up for them may want to know:confused: I said nothing negative what so ever..... you need to learn how to read what is there!

On a side note I'm sure Intercooler will be building a 1600+hp motor for his car because after all he is an expert like Kenny Duttweiler!!!:o
No but more of an expert than you Jerky!:D Christ, you don't even build your own motors or do any of your own wrenching so back under your rock. Didn't need your comments at all. Funny how someone that hasn't even ran out of the 12's talks ****:p

On a side note:

I am going to build a 1600 HP motor to see how far I can shove it up your ass :D

What about cranks and rods. Lots of talk about the block and heads but what about the rest? I know u can get them some where else...is that what TA is counting on? Or are they making their own stuff?

Glad somebody thinks so:D May not get far if he has a big ass;)

Sorry Nick!

I didn't mean for your thread to go this way... Brick has a way of telling everyone elses experiences rather than his own so it gets to me a little. May be because he doesn't have any LOL:D

I edited my one reply to Intercooler and deleted my one post about him because I don't want this thread to go the wrong way....

Guys,

This was kind of funny.
Let's not use this forum for personal attacks.

Let's give peace a chance, at least on this board.
Now the Middle East is a whole different story.

Both you guys have a lot to say and I try to listen to
both of your opinions regardless of ass size :D

Nick,is there still time for me to put in an order for one of these blocks?Or will I have to wait for the next run?

The cranks for now will be a billet piece made for TA. Rods will also be available. All pieces needed to assemble a motor will eventially be available from TA for the stock, stage and alum V-6.
It is Mike's desire to have available gaskets, ARP items, and other needed items for assembling a motor. He is now a Cometic dealer and will be stocking head gaskets for 3.8 and 4.1 motors.

In the near future we will offer built to spec short and long blocks, as well as custom port work for the TA heads.

To answer another post, as of today there are still alum blocks from this run w/o a deposit. Not sure how many as 2 more were reserved today.
