So,...what really is the diff between the two kinds of wheels
how do i know what rel gnx wheels look like and what is a set worth nowdays:confused:

Real GNX wheels have less backspacing than the TA crosslaced wheels. There are also two different style TA wheels...the ones with the "dimples" and the ones without the "dimples". The ones without the "dimples" closer resemble the GNX wheels. The center sections of these dimpleless wheels are also welded to the rim shell, like the GNX wheels. They are 2-piece wheels.

TA wheels come in fronts and rears....much like GNX wheels. Here's how they measure up:

TA fronts - about 4.5" backspacing (0 offset)
TA rears - about 5.25" backspacing (20mm negative offset..I think)
GNX fronts - about 3.9" backspacing (15mm positive offset)
GNX rears - about 3.6" backspacing (23mm positive offset)

Visually, to tell the difference, real GNX wheels have the "deeper dish" look and don't have the dimples on the outer periphery of the center section. On the rear face of the center section of the wheel, the offset measurement should be bossed.

As many would say, cost is whatever someone will pay for them. Expect to pay 2 or 3 times more for real GNX wheels as compared to TA wheels if you can even find real GNX wheels for sale.

Or do what I did. Buy some TA wheels off Ebay. Find cheap rear TA wheels without the dimples (the ones with the center section welded to the rim shell). Rear TA wheels sell for less than front TA wheels. Then take the rear TA wheels and bring them to a custom wheel shop and have them cut out the centers and weld them back in at the backspacing of your choice. Paint them and polish them and for a decent price you'll have GNX style wheels that fit your car perfectly.
