ok say youve installed, tuned, and ran a TA33 to its limit (lets say low 12s). what are your options after that? i know apparently Limit can stuff a 60 trim compressor into a hotair housing, but lets say that is a bit much for your combo. is there anything between a TA33 and the 60 trim? id prefer something that would bolt right up like stock. ive done enough hard work/fabricating to this car as it is... id like to do something easy for a change :D

anyone have or know of such an upgrade? my target E/T would probably be mid 11s with mph in the 115 - 118 range

Are you sure you have maxed out your combo? Have you thought about adding an alcohol kit?

If you want something bigger than a TA33C from limit that fits inside your stock hot air housing you are SOL. I was in contact with them about a week and a half ago, and the ONLY thing they were willing to do was a TA33C. They flat out REFUSED to make it any bigger. So you will either have to change to a turbo with different housings, or send your turbo to Precision. I sent mine to Precision.

hmm... i thought there was a post recently where someone said Limit would do a 60 trim in a hotair housing? oh well, it doesnt necessarily HAVE to be from Limit, i just used them as an example since i know they did the TA33. i just assumed they would have an option to go bigger. dont know why they wouldnt though. thats weird

so Precision makes a hotair based turbo bigger than a TA33? do you have any specs on it, and what kind of power levels does it support?

I was told that at one time Limit would put a 60-1 in a hot air housing, but apparently they will no longer do this. I'm not really sure why they won't.

My question to Precision was simple. "I want to get as much air flow as possible out of my hot air housing. What can you give me?" I don't have the specs as far as wheels etc., but they told me they could make my hot air housing flow 840 CFM. That's theoretically enough to support 580 hp. I should have actual specs soon if you are interested.

nice! i believe the TA33 only flows somwhere in the 700 - 750 cfm range, so an extra 100+ cfm is exactly what im looking for

i remember an old post where it was discussed that Precision makes a hotair based turbo (i think its a TA48?), and from the flow #s you gave i think thats it. when you get actual specs, cost, etc, please keep me posted

I think the thread you are referring to is this one: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112544&highlight=ta+48

If you read it, Turbogimp has a TA48 from precision. He likes it, and says it is rated @ 750 cfm. The TA33 is maxed out at 700 cfm. My turbo is at precision right now getting done. I still have yet to find out exactly which wheels etc. they are using, but they told me it would come back flowing 840 cfm. I just wanted to get as much air flow as possible out of my stock housings. That's what they told me they could do. That was all I was really worried about at the time. The cost is $785 plus shipping and taxes if there are any. When I get the exact info as far as wheels are concerned I will let you know.

then the TA48 isnt for me. im looking for something a bit more than only 50cfm over the TA33

cool! definately keep me posted. hopefully they will do another one like yours, cause in a few months ill be ready for an upgrade

i still wonder why Limit is now refusing to do anything bigger than a TA33 for 84/85s? theyre ignoring the hotair aftermarket when its probably bigger now that it ever was. bravo to Precision for catering to the customers needs, and not ignoring the minority. theyll be getting my business from now on
