Im looking into getting a TA49, but Ive seen some sites say it requires a minimum 2600 stall. Ive seen other sites that say it will work on a stock car. What I want to know is, will it work on a stock trans...and if so are there huge drawbacks?

The TA49 will work fine with a Stock or 2600 convertor & Stock Tranny, no draw backs.
If using a Stock or 2600 stall convertor, I would order it with the Garrett .63 a/r turbine housing.

It would also be recommended, to step up on injector size (36# or42.5#) & Chip to match.

Thanks....Ive already got the injectors..would just have to update the chip. The garret .63 housing....is that designated by a letter? Ive seen a Ta49c ...is that the same thing?
 
I've been running a TA49 for two years. One with the stock D5 and the next year with a restalled 2800 stall D5. The 2800 definately spooled it faster, but the stocker was just fine. See the injectors below, and if your trans is in good shape, it should be ok. I had to get mine rebuilt, but definately get a shift kit.

I believe the "c" designation means complete, with actuator.
