Tapping sound

My car has been making a wierd tapping sound....It does not do it when it is cold...only when it gets warmed up...it sounds like it is coming from the passengers side of the car....I bought a stethoscope and listened to everything...it seems to be coming from the torque converter area. I took of the bottom cover to the bell housing and cranked it up....yep the ticking sound is coming from that area. all the bolts on the converter were tight and no leaks any where. also if you put a load on the motor (spool it up) it seems to quite down. In park and nertual at idle it is the worst. What do you guys think it is?

Leaking at the crossover to header. Exhaust leaks sound like "ticks" and change with temps.


Check for cracked DS header betweem #3 and #5 as well.

b4black, the header betweem #3 and #5 has already been welded....The cross-over pipe is tight and no leaks....it is diffenitly coming from the converter area...just don't know what it is....I need to get a 3000 stall for my TA54 anyway....might have to do that..

a cracked flex plate will cause a ticking sound also. will
increase with rpm. only way to check is pull trans and
converter.

mine done that the first time and it was the converter and the secend time it was the converter. now I run a different converter
