I am up for a little experimentation on my car. Is there any reason (witht he necessary fabrication of course) that our TB has to be in front of the turbo? Can the turbo blow through the TB instead?

They did it on the 86-87s and the 89 TTA, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

would a blow off valve be required then? I don't know if the had them on the cold air cars or not, but from whta I have read if you are blowing throught he TB, it's a good idea so you don't over pressureize when you let of the throttle

I/ve never had one, and most of my turbos last longer than my motors.
Blow off valves are more for stick shift cars than autos, but yes, they will help to prolong the life of the turbo.

The TB has to be as close to the intake manifold as possible to get good throttle response. With the Spearco kit, all you have to do is cut a section out of the plumbing right before the elbow and couple the Tb in with silicone hose. The reason is with the TB before the turbo, when you hit the gas the fuel is delivered instantly but the air has 12' of intercooler plumbing to go through so you get a rich condition at tip in. Also, removing the restriction before the turbo makes it spool much faster and you can blow more air through the TB than suck it through. A BOV is a good idea with that much plumbing. I will guarantee the car will feel like a completely different car with the TB relocated.

You really don't need a BOV...Just don't slam the throttle shut( ;) )...But, seriously, cool 84 is right...He's pretty much the reason that I did my TB relocation...I was having the tip-in and hesitation before I did it, and it disappeared after the relocation...It is highly recommended when doing a FM IC retrofit on the hotair cars...

Oh, yeah...NIGHT AND DAY difference in the way the motor responds...
