I am trying to track down a problem, but I wanted to get some opinions before I pull my trans.

My motor was making 360 at the wheels. I installed a larger cam (recommended by crane and comp, my other was way too small), and larger headers to match the exhaust ports on my heads. Nothing huge, I went from a 214 @ .050 to a 230 @ .050 and from 1-5/8" primaries to 1-3/4".

I took the car out and it was a blast, much faster. It drove like this for about a month. The day I drove it to the dyno for some fine tuning it was being really sluggish, like the old cam was back in the motor. The best of 27 pulls on the dyno was 310 rwhp. The strange thing though is that on one run - with absolutely no changes - it made 355. Then on a backup run right after it was back to 310.

I checked the plugs and wires, did a compression test, looked at my datalogs - fuel, spark, and air all look fine.

Now to the question. Could the stator in my trans be going bad? I checked the fluid and it is clean, but the stator not multiplying the torque is the only thing I can think of. any other ideas?

Thanks,
-Aaron
