I looked at those myself but if I remember correctly you can have your tranny built by a reputable shop that knows our cars for about the same money. I know that's not what you asked but that's why I didn't get into seriously checking them out.

Appreciate the replies.
I've read just enough to get the idea that rebuilding these transmissions is complicated and that there are quite a few secrets involved.
Thought that maybe the easiest and least expensive way to go would be the TCI through Jegs. Warranty, etc.
Realize that the "killer" stuff comes from the vendors on this list, and sure don't want to "diss" them in any way.
I just want to go zoom with the other guys and not break anything.
I also want world peace and LOWER gas prices. :)
Thanks

Don't waste your money on the tci unit. I have one that is a year old, that is going to get pulled and thrown off a bridge. For the first month it did great, but since then it has developed a lazy 2-3 shift. It also has unpredictable shift points and downshifts. Next trans for me will be from someone who specializes in TRs. I have seen them advertised for about the same money as the TCI. I followed the same reasoning as you, I wanted a big name brand company that has a good warranty and reputation. Now I can't get TCI to return any of my phone calls or e mails.

I have a TCI trans that has been back a forth to Mississippi 3 times...It is slipping the 2-3 shift right now in my shed.....I'd throw it away except for the fact that I have about $2,900 in it..Depending on where you live, Deltrans in Deleware rebuilt a GN core for me and life has been good ever since...

what is it about the turbocharged Buick that makes it so hard on trannies?
TCI has a really solid rep building some extreme trannies for some extreme applications- like 700-800 hp big blocks running 9 second 1/4 miles and what not- but yet they have a bad rep when it comes to a little V6 making maybe 400 hp in all but the most extreme cases.
why is that?
or do we only hear from the 1% of the guys that buy the trannies that have bad experiences?
doesn't one of the head tech dudes at TCI own a GN and thrash it regularly? i think i saw him post at one of the TR boards before..
