te45 differences from a te45a

How can I tell the difference between the two. My turbo is suppose to be a 45a I just want to make sure. Also whats the hp difference between the two. Thanks

TE45 is the T63 (63mm)big shaft turbo P trim turbine
TE45a is a (66mm) built by John Craig 650hp
Pull the compressor housing and measure the blades with a dial caliper.

I forget the Hp numbers on the T63. It was around the same as a TE45a tho.
I had one on my car and it was a great turbo.

I know that the turbo I have is a john craig turbo. Is the inlet and outlets the same size on the 45 and 45a ?

you have to measure the compressor wheel at the inlet

It says it right on the compressor housing. Or at least mine does

Let me add/ I am talking about the compressor wheel size is stamped on that housing.

It is on the outside. Clearly visible. Unless my housing is different than yours. No picture as my turbo is a my engine builder 140 miles from here.

When I say it is on the compressor housing I am reffering to the comp wheel size. It does not say TE45 this or that.

He is referring to the the engraving on the compressor near the outlet... If it has it.... Otherwise, measure the wheel with calipers.

Ditto! No better way to know for sure I would take the turbo off and pull the cover and measure
