I have a Limited TE62 and recently put in a new motor with fully ported GN1 heads...it appears as though I can't get more than 20 PSI boost with that turbo...friend of mine has a similar situation with ported heads and a PT54...21 PSI is his max...I guess the turbo just can't keep up with the air flow form the heads/intake so is this something normal that happens with smaller turbos and ported heads?...I plan on going to a 71GTQ so it's not a big deal but just wondering why that happens....

sounds about right......you might be able to get a bit more out of it, but maybe not........my 70GT is done at 25 lbs.......Nick's 70BB done at 25

good heads need big turbos.........I am looking for a 72BB

Stangbanger has run 10.66@126+ with a TA61 and stock long block(valve springs replaced), around 3500 race weight, check out his sig. I think Kent Rudbeck went 10.5's with TA61 in mid 90's. I have my Te62 set at 30lbs. right now with bone stock heads, that should at least be 25lbs. ported and polished shouldn't it?. Realizing Gn1s have larger dimensions. Low 7s in 1\8 with severe traction issues on this car.

ported irons maybe, but you'll never get that kind of boost with that small a turbo with well flowing GN1's

boost is just restriction.......

I get it, too much volume to pressurize. Didnt realize the gn1's were THAT much roomier:)
