I've tried the Crest Whitestrips, gooey is all I can say. I tried the Colgate brush-on type, not bad at all. Reading the label, it looks like Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) is the main ingredient outside of flavor. Anyone used HP with good results? No sense in ponying up $6.00 for a bottle of goo or $25 for those nasty strips if HP does the same thing.

Try Natural White from Walmart. Not as strong as the dental stuff but I use it for maintenance.:D

For any of those whitening agents to work you teeth have to be professionally cleaned first. You can not remove calculus from teeth without scraping it off. It's like barnacles. Once your teeth are cleaned and polished with pumice they can be lightened with those products. You might find that just having them professionally cleaned will whiten them good enough. I'm not sold on the long term safety of those products and I'm in the dental field. BTW, very few people's teeth are truely white anyway. If you were to look at a shade sample the dentist uses for the shade of a crown, they are grouped by the base hue. The most popular shades are "A" which are based on yellow. Teeth darken as we age because the pulp in the tooth slowly shrinks. A root canaled tooth turn greyer.

I have done this a few times with Great results. Go to your dentist he makes a mold of your teeth, most Doctor offices sell Night-White. Squirt it in your mold and install into your mouth at sleepy time, it is like a mouth piece you cannot even feel them. You awake with white teeth, do not over use the stuff like I did the first time. My teeth were so sensitive I could not even touch them:eek: All the other stuff on the market is just run off from having molds and doing it right.

I can feel the $300+ bill that comes with that process!!! :D

....but I agree...probably the best way to go if you have the $$$.

I've used all of them. The crest whitestrips work the best, and you don't look extremely goofy looking if busted wearing them. The brush-on stuff works ok, but it's a pita. I only buy the stuff when its on sale. I got a whole treatment of crest whitestrips and a 6 oz bottle of whitening toothpaste for $12.99. I also buy the walgreens brand stuff and it works pretty good if not better, but you have a blue foam piece instead of the clear strips.

My friend was a pretty heavy smoker for a lot of years. He used the Crest Whitestrips and those things worked. This was when they first came out and he ended up using two boxes of them to get his results.

That said, if you want to do it quick then just go to the dentist and have him do it for you. Otherwise you have to use the strips twice a day for an hour for about a month.

Heck John,

You posted this in the wrong forum. This should go in the restoration forum. Just take those dentures out, take 'em down to the body shop, have them shoot it with some good glossy paint and bake 'em. :)

Honestly, I'm surprised so many people here are knowledgable about dental care. Interesting.

According to Consumer Reports: The Colgate Simply White Night is ranked #1, Crest Night Effects #2 and Colgate Simply White #3, Crest Whitestrips #4 and Rembrandt 2 hr White last. Testing done on 1/04.

I've heard mouthwashing with some murriatic acid works wonders on the old chiclets!! :D
