Have you at least called/contacted the builder to give them a chance to correct the problem?

They can't fix it if they don't know it is a problem.

Yes I have contacted the builder.
He said it was fine when they ran it, said to just leave alone and see what happens.
Said they must have banged it around during shipping or it was a weak spot.
I ordered a case today and will have a friend of mine change out the case.

Yea, I figure I am pretty much on my own.
Chock this up to an expensive lesson learned.
Something like this should only be bought from somewhere you can physically drive.

No something like this should only be bought from a vendor on a board that will stand to lose a lot of buisness and credibility on by not doing right by his customers.....Why did the trans cost you so much being a street build did the converter come with it?

DEFINITELY looks cross threaded or over torqued...bullshit on the "it got damaged during shipping. i have had 1 out of 3 vendors on this site that i have used admit their mistake AND not double or triple charge me for shipping, and almost no one off the site, and on top of it try to blame YOU for their mistake.....amazing some of the bullshit these guys will try to come up with....

I agree SuperSix, easy to see it was either Cross-threaded or a Standard bolt was used instead of Metric.
Builder should cover the cost of a Case & swapping the Internals.

Another improbable scenario . . . . . Since that is a blind tapped hole , if it had some fluid left in it and the bolt was torqued down it might bust the case . Not saying , just saying .

turboc87gn, the trans is a stage 2 and was $2000 and with the convertor and shipping it was $2500.
He suggested a stage 2 because of the torque of my pontiac 455.
Anyway I put the broken piece back in with JB weld and pushed some into the threads around the bolt, it seems to be holding and the trans is finally shifting like it should. I got the spare case this week-end and will just put it away until the bolt decides to lets go and deal with it them.
