temp gauge

bought a temp gauge and installed it now the scanmaster is showing 170* and the gauge is showing 190*. i took it back and got another one . same thing wtf. now why are there three sensors on the intake.one on the passenger side and two on the drivers side why is this? i installed the one on the passenger side is this right? what are the other two for?

I put my autometer sender unit beside the engine in the block driver side
remove the little square drive pluge and put your sender be sure the
wire dont touch the header.
