Test Pipe vs Dump Pipe

Lets see, a test pipe is done by removing the cat there for the gasses get out faster plus u have faster spool up. Dump pipe is after the cat and is done before the mufflers and does basicly the same thing as the test pipe. If your gn has high miles i would do the test pipe. imo

I think you mean dump BEFORE the cat. The goal is to have least restriction possible, can't do that if gasses are passing thru cat.

Most "dump pipes" I've seen are incorporated directly into the test pipe, giving you the option to skip even the muffs.
 
With a "test pipe" only (ie, no cat), and a modern cat back muffler system (eg Dynomax Ultraflows, which are virtually"straight thru" mufflers), you can achieve nearly the same perfomance as an open "dump pipe". Unless it was a full-out race car, you'd probably be hard-pressed to measure much difference.

Some race tracks in urbanized areas won't even allow fully open, un-muffled exhausts.
