TH-400 direct piston install?

I am working on my 400 (thanks to Chris K for the early drum and sprag). I have the lip seals on the direct piston, including the inner one on the drum which, according to the ATSG, faces up. Now it says to install using a twisting motion. I've twisted until I resemble Chubby Checker but that sucker's not going in there! Any tips/tricks?

Got it..the transbrake instructions say to discard the inner seal on the drum, which is the one that was giving me fits. One chopped up 2 liter bottle to use as a lip seal protector and it's on.
