Do you have to push the button for the shifter to go into 3rd?
Thanks,
Scott

Sorry I didn't reply sooner... I lost track of this thread. :D

Yes, the button is pushed to get into third gear...

Here's how it works:

(I've gotten a few IM's, asking a few questions...So I just want to clear up any possible confusion as to how these gates work...)

Neutral, 1st & 2nd are all an open gate, and use the detent in the trans to stay in gear. The whole idea is this...

Launch car in 1st, slap shifter back for 2nd (where it stops) then click the shifter button and pull for third. It's the same principal used in the Hurst 1/4 stick. The only difference is the Hurst shifter has extra gizmos that allow neutral and reverse to also be locked out seperately.
I thought about putting a step in the detents for neutral lockout, but the problem with that is this...
Any time the button is pushed, there is a risk of overtravel and overshifting.
If you had to push the button to get in neutral, it's possible to overtravel into reverse, or even (God forbid) Park.
If you had to push the button to go from 1st to 2nd, it would be very easy to overshift into 3rd by mistake.
The way I made the gates, it's impossible to hit reverse (Many guys like to smack the shifter into neutral going through the traps) or overshift 2nd gear into 3rd... something that would certainly happen if it required the button to be pushed for Neutral or 2nd.
There really is no other way to make them, without risking an accident from overshifting into reverse.
Hope that helps clear up any confusion...

UPDATE:

From now on, I will no longer be selling these directly.

All future sales or inquiries should be directed straight to Bweavy at: GBodyParts.com Online
He is now the sole supplier of these special detent brackets.

I don't think he has them listed on his site yet, but I'd expect to see them in the next few days.

He has the capability to market and sell these more efficiently than I can.

To all who I've sold to already, thanks a million for your business.
