I know everybody has seen this video. Do you guys think I have enough combo to make a similiar performance? On pump gas? What I would really like to hear is that I would be able to smoke those to GN's, AND the Viper:)

You definately have the parts...but pump gas will be the trick.

I recommend Trans+/Extender chip so you can dial it in on the pump gas. The other main thing will be getting octane so you can get the boost your combo is capable of.....this means alcohol injection or propane injection with the pump gas....maybe spike some xylene in the tank, but the xylene only takes you so far octane-wise.

The other main factor will be traction....drag radials or DOT's...such as Hoosier QT Pro's.

If you beat them off the line, the humiliation will be complete. I've found that if you can get several car lengths on them before you hit 60 mph they just give up. :)

The Camera Car in the GN vs. Viper video is Jeff Fox's. He has a recipe write up on GNTtype.org "11's for $1500". Viper's aren't drag cars and Viper Drivers aren't Drag Racers (they are usually just "rich guys").

From a standing start or slow roll and only for a 1/4 mile, it doesn't take too many mods to beat a Viper. From a 60 mph roll or above 120 mph it takes a LOT to beat a Viper.

I had less mods than you when I beat my first Viper and my car is a hotair on top of that. But I guess the kicker is I was on race gas with 24 degrees of timing and 24psi. It was a basic combo, FM IC, TA49, port matched heads, ported intake, 2.5" DP, headers, small cam, and 009s. Whats funny is we launched almost even, I pulled a solid car between his front bumper and my rear in second and mid way through third I stopped pulling on him. Not sure if he was catching me or not but I'm sure if I would've hit fourth gear it would've been ugly for me. One more thing, I had my 105 lb friend sit in the back seat on the passenger side because it was a one legger back then.

I agree with what you say for the most part, but after bearing witness to some Vipers running mid 10s and high 9s in Bowling Green at the first of the month, I'd have to say that you need to be wary of some Vipers lurking around.

There were several Vipers running 9s on Propane/Nitrous, and several running mid 10s with blowers.

But you're right. For the most part, Viper drivers can't drive. :)

You have plenty to beat a stock or very mild viper on 93 octane Its not too hard with a GN. Even mine has taken a few vipers with my mods and you have quite a bit more in the turbo and injectors. Most stock run 12.0 - 12.6 which is not unbeatable by any means. Some run high 11s with a great driver but with your mods I think you should be running at least high 11s on pump gas and no alky with a good tune.

i got a basic te44 car and a new viper was pulling slowly on me on the first "run" but on the second i got a jump on him and he wasent able to pass me :D i would say that youve got enough to go after one.

Just remember every mph over 100 it swings more and more in favor of the Viper, so make sure you have a good lead by then:cool:

Generally GN's don't breath to well after 130 mph, which most high speed runs come up on rather quickly. If you are heavely modded this may be a different story, but a normal bolt-on GN or even one with heads/cam and the normal bolt-ons may have its hands full after you run out of third gear. Now from a stop, in 1/4, the GN's are a fare better equip machine for this kind of race. If you wanna race vipers, race them from a stop. :D

A guy here at work as a 10.8 second viper running nitrous.
Without the bottle it is a mid 11 second car.
