The story says the big block was used in the Corvair, like to find me one of those. I heard thaey are very rare. Maybe thats the engine they used for the turbo version?
 
Really sucks for the marine industry. I wonder what they will use as a replacement.
 
Dart or World can supply them with big inch small blocks, that makes sense to me

I read that the plant that produces blocks for the GMPP division will remain in operation. The crate engine program (and perhaps the marine stuff) will be unaffected by this closing.
 
Oh, good point. I can't imagine a 34+ foot Outlaw, Cigarette, Velocity or whatever without a BBC. Mercruiser sells too many to stop production. I loved the built 454 in my 1988 23 Velocity...blappity blappity blappity
