I'm trying to be objective here, I hated seeing my Ranger's loose today, but what are the referees doing out there? I'm watching this in both series, the Flyer's were totally getting hosed on calls. The entire high sticking incidents in today's game was an absolute joke. The referees aren't letting the guys play like in they do in the West and are totally inconsistent in their calling of penalties. I feel bad for the Eastern conference team that has to go out West.... Their going to get mugged and man handled, then try to figure out why the calls aren't consistent with what the Eastern Conf refs called in the first three rounds...

At the risk of sounding like an sore loser, the Rangers did get outplayed the entire series after blowing a 3-0 lead in game 1. Saying that, the refs did blow. Quick whistles on clear goals, stitches and no idea how Drury got cut?? Terrible.

IMO ever since the NHL changed their rules a couple years ago the NHL stands for the Neutered Hockey League, and seeing 7-5 games (regular season) with each team getting 10 power plays is ridiculous IMO.

I have been a 30 plus year Ranger hater so to see them lose is fine by me as they were outplayed and sadly the NY media can't hand them the cup like they do every year for just showing up.....All hail the king.

We're just waiting for the Stars/Sharks to finish making love< but i hate the longlayoff

Non the less the road to the cup comes through Detwa

Its painfully obvious the NHL has the Ref's pushing the Pens and "Cindy" Crosby to finals. They should be ashamed of themselves. :(

Thankfully with the rangers gone I don't have to listen to homers sam rosen and joe micheletti for another 5 months as well as the rest of the NY media tell us how great the rangers are and deserve the cup just because they are the rangers.

The were outplayed by a better team and the outcome wasn't dictated by Sid the Kid and the refs, but hey it was nice to see captain jaggy not quit on his team like he has a history of doing.........all hail the self proclaimed king too.

San Jose/ Dallas

What a phenominal game that was, no BS Rooty Poot penalties, they let the players play. I think whoever makes it out of the East is going to get crushed, I guess Pennsyltucky should be happy at least, they get an in State rivalry... :D

Spoken like a true Devil's fan. IMHO Jagr had a good series, but the Pen's first line made the Rangers look slow..

Yes... the Blueshirts choked and were outplayed when it counted, during OT and the 3rd Period. But you cannot say you watched that entire series (as I had) and not seen complete inconsistency, phantom penalties, missing obvious calls, and flat out baffoonery on the ref's part. Not just toward New York, but towards Pittsbugh, and especially the Flyers.

>>> Actually I am a 30 year Islander fan and at least they made the playoffs while my team sucks and yes jagr did have a good series as he did against the Devils. However IMO when you are a hall of famer like jagr is going to be and captain of the team you don't quit on your team as he has done in the past (not this playoff series tho).

Ask Don Cherry who said it, when things don't go jaggys way like in Pitts when Mario wasn't around he quit on the Pens, he gets traded to the Caps and when he realizes they ain't going anywhere he quits on them, then a couple years ago during their sweep by the devils he throws a punch at Gomez after the game was already decided and dislocates his shoulder and hurts his team.

The captain of the rangers should have been Shannahan and when jaggy was interviewed after going down3-0 by his locker says in a I quit tone of voice "who knows Thursday game my be my last one here"........that IMO is not what a captain should say.

I doubt that messier the greatest leader in team sports:rolleyes: as proclaimed by NY media and also the greatest cryer at ceremonies would have said something like that.

So the rangers can tee if up with my Islanders for some golf tourneys this summer and watch either Detroit or the Pens raise the cup.

The Refs are horrible some nights out here in the east. Mainly because they all have to come to Toronto all the time (where NHL operations office is)

I hate the holding calls, hooking, and interferance. half of them are "soft" and the other 80% are dives.

I say let them play.

I've jumped on the penguins bandwagon cause my team (leafs) were horrible the last three years. we actually watched a game at Don Cherry's bar with leaf jerseys and paper bags on our heads...

>>> I agree with you 100% the officiating in the NHL is horrible, their intent a couple years ago was to stop the hooking and grabbing of the superstars so people can pay their money to watch the stars perform, in theory a good idea.

However what you now have is each team getting 5-10 powerplays a game, defensemen who are afraid to hit forwards parked in front of the net, I am sorry if you stand there you have to pay the price, instead the battles in front of the net are not like they were years ago.

I agree you can not have total muggings going on out there but this where any little touch is called and I am sorry you have to impede a guys progress in some capacity or be alllowed to within reason. Today the slightest slash is called and that is just nuts.

Consider this........if the rule changes were meant to speed up the game, increase scoring with more power plays per game and the stars able to free roam how come your leading scorers the last couple years can't break 140 points, compared to the days when these rules were not in place and Gretzky scored over 200 points in a season.

Lastly........$hitcan the shootout, IMO you do not end a game on a drill you do at practice.

Man I tought we had it bad having to sit through Barry Melrose and Brian (mushroomhead) engbloom talk about how the Aves would sweep Detroit cause they had too much depth...i think they just secretly wish Forsburg would do em both on a deserted island while watching family guy.

Go Wings!

Melrose & Engblom are a pair of oxygen thieves, who saw that hit Brendan Morrow had on Michalek....that was Reminiscent of Scott Stevens drilling Erin Lindros to the ice during one of the Devil's cup run years... I guess that's why the coaches always preach "keep your head up"....

"I doubt that messier the greatest leader in team sports as proclaimed by NY media and also the greatest cryer at ceremonies would have said something like that."

Whats Messier got to do with it?? With the rolleyes attached  ?? Obviously you dont believe hes one of the greatest leaders in team sports which is fine. Your opinion. So why then point out what "he" would or wouldnt say???

I was comparing their captaincy's over the years, when messier was with Edmonton and with the rangers and having seen mess speak after games in all situations over the years and he wouldn't take the demeanor or say the things jaggy said Thursday night.........just my opinion.

Sure but not every Captain can be thee Captain. ;) And why the rolleyes????
Jagr also said he believed they could come back amongst other things, you left that out. He lead by example as hes still the playoffs leading scorer at this point. Maybe Brendan Witt or Guerin would say it better..
Well Jags is a free agent now. I wonder if he could help could help the Islanders if he went there.

No thanks the Isles do a good enough job on their own signing older has beens and have enough quitters (yashin) we don't need jaggy, they can not make the playoffs even without jaggy.

I am sure someone will sign him, knowing the rangers past history I am sure they will sign him to a 10 year deal and that will give sam rosen and joe micheletti the chance to gush over him and say over and over how strong jaggy is.

Although for pure entertainment nothing beat JD and sams love of mess for all those years, ya think the captain of all captains walked on water with those two.........thank god for the mute button.

Yeah your right. Stick with Witt and Guerin. Cant leave Howie with out anyone to gush for...Youll be better off......

They are two has beens also and there is no one on the Isles to gush over trust me they stink but it's sad when the only news the Isles have is Comrie dating Hillary Duff.

Small potatoes to making the front of the Daily News when you are associated with a bunch of hookers like mr. avery.
