ok guys my car is drivin me nuts
this problem is stumping me
i finally am going to upgrade my ecm and the scanner is coming late next week, so i dont have any hard core numbers to go by, just yet!
i am wondering if maybe someone can give me an idea on where to look or maybe a lil insight.
but i cannot figure out whut is wrong with my car, i got an 85 gn.
my car runs smoothe, but when i go to really get on it and give it some boost
i am gettin some krazy audible knock around 8-9 pounds of boost and up, i have the stock 85 turbo, i cant understand why i would be gettin knock on a stock turbo even when running a few gallons of turbo blue mixed with 93,
its not a rod knock cuz it made the same sound with even new rods, and it only does it when boosted, normal driving i never hear a thing
i have a new updated walbro system and new fuel injectors and adj regulator also
i recently replaced the wastegate with an adjustable and the selenoid too. i also have the 96 impala maf and the translator
the car builds boost quick but when i hear the knock i instantly let off the pedal
has anyone experienced anything like that, i know im not the most knowledgable guy
i know every1 will say wait till u get the scanner,
but i was wondering if anyone could maybe give me a lil insight or maybe give me some info from your own experiences.
i get 17 pounds of vacuum at idle, and set my fp to 45 # line off, i also have my tps sensor set to gnttype.org's ideal settings. i've even gone so far as to replace head gaskets
could a bad sensor or even the ignition pack cause something like this? i think i have the stock one on there still. i have new plugs n wires also, i just am stumped on where to look, and im tired of spending cash, assuming that ugrading this part or that part will help out. i honestly think that the pack is the only thing left that i have not tried, is there way to test the pack with a digital volt meter?
could the turbo be shot?do turbos maybe ping or knock when bad? i dunno who else to ask, not like anyone in my area knows how a turbo even works
i honestly think it is a tuning issue or electronic problem
but im so irritated that i just wanna park it for the summer
whut fun is it to have a turbo regal when u cant even put it to the floor , i didnt even think a stock turbo could cause knock
