I need to install external cooler to replace internal rad cooler. What are you guys doing about the hoses, just connecting to the existing ones or going with new direct to adapter? Are the connections taper pipe thread or something different?
I have not selected a cooler yet so any recommendations on what to buy would be helpful. Thank you.

I can't be the only one going to use an external oil cooler. I would have expected a few responses. Anyone please?

I'm looking into adding an external cooler & the fittings look to be Tubing fittings.

oil lines

The oil filter adapter has .500 female pipe threads.
B & M makes a Super cooler with .500 female pipe threads. You could buy 2 .500 street ells for the adapter. Point them toward the front of car. Use 4 .500 pipe to .625 hose adapters. Parker makes a .625 ( or .500 would work also, might be easier to locate) push lock hose suited for eng. oil. Install fittings and cut hose to fit. Steel braided hoses would be neat. More $. I have had the Parker hose on my car for 6 year.

I mounted a B & M oil cooler just about 3" just behind the PS air dam and drilled 3 x 1 3/4" holes in the dam in front of the cooler . I got a couple of made to measure hoses and fittings from a local hyd hose shop .I just took the cooler and adapter down to the shop and got the fittings I needed . I then installed everything and took measurements for the hoses . Went back and got them made up . Everything cost about $70 (Canadian) . Looks real trick :) .

B&M Part # 70265 , 11" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" 15,000 GVW .

I'm not using a cooler, but I am plumbed up to a dual remote spin-on oil filter adapter using -10 AN fittings and lines...

Lee, not sure I know what push loc hose is so does it come with fittings and you buy it to length?
It sounds like you are not using the stock hoses at all.
Is your cooler the same one as KWIKR1 listed?
Where did you mount it?
Thanks for all the responses from everyone.

just my 02

I ordered my external cooler from JC Whitney. It seems that all of the "stacked plate" design coolers are made by a company in Canada called "True Cool". They are then sold to B & M, JC Whitney, and others to sell under thier own names. I wanted the 48 plate cooler, 5 3/4 x 11.0 x 1 1/2, with 1/2" NPT threads. It just so happens the B & M cooler only came with the threaded inlets if you order the big race tranny cooler, (which I run as a stand alone on my tranny). The JC Whitney unit PN# 38ZU1482N was $48.00. Now the hoses I use are hydraulic pressure hoses I got from Amazon Hose and Rubber in Tampa Fl. They have the proper fittings on each end and they are crimped, (very heavy duty). BTW make sure you get Aluminum fittings on the end that threads into your adapter at the filter. The adapter is aluminum, so you don't want to use brass. At least thats what the hose master at Amazon told me. Happy shopping. - BB;)

Do you guys know what size fitting will fit the end of the stock oil hoses (rad end)? Is it a 37 deg flare type fitting? I would like to use my stock hoses and couple them to the cooler (yet to be determined). Thanks
