tie down/leash question

The ratchet strap tie down should be how tight? I removed mine a while back not to know the negatives to not having it such as false knock, unstable then it was all the time before I removed, etc..I just want to make sure I get back to what it should be as far as dont want it too tight or too loose. Thanks TB family for any help

If you are going to use the strap it has to be snug,not to the point that it pulls the motor or preloads.I had one but got tired of answering stupid questions at cruise nightsso I went this route
