I've seen about 12 different styles shown as "1987 buick grand national" tilt steering wheel lever. Does anyone have a picture they could post of their actual factory lever? Also, does anyone know the part number by chance or if an aftermarket company makes them?

I seem to keep stumbling back to this one. But I can't find a part number or a replacement anywhere.

From my 9,800mi 87 GN. May be hard to tell, but the knob is gray like the instrument bezel. There's a nice used one on ebay with the correct color top #191659448567.

I saw that one... wasn't sure how well the chrome over plastic cleaned up or if I would end up stripping the chrome?

Well, that's the correct one as you can see. It looked in really good shape to me and would probably clean-up just fine. Also, I think the lever's all metal, no plastic other than the knob? Honestly, I think it would be hard to strip it. Just start with something mild/nonabrasive and clean by hand. Otherwise, keep looking, now that you know what you're looking for.

I took a dremel tool with a fine wire wheel to a badly pitted one and it cleaned up just fine. Probably wouldn't cut it for a show car, but it looks great in my dd.
