I am messing around with me new TT chip in my car. I am using a snap-on MT2500 scanner right now. It has an option to check base timing. The scanner is reading 30° at idle. This seems high when the chip instructions say no more than 18-20° at wot. I double checked with a Mac adjustable timing light. It is reading 29° at idle.
I checked the timing on the timing light by adjusting the nob until it brought the balancer mark back to 0°. This was the first mark on the indicator on the right by standing at the front of the car facing the motor.
Does this make any sense to anybody?
Is there a way to bring the timing down without sending the chip back out?
