Get the car off the ground and spin the tires. I'm betting you'll find a slight wobble on the tire. If that's the case, have them break the bead and rotate the tire 90º on the rim and balance. That should cure the problem. If not, have them replace the tires. I just went though this on a set of 315/35/17 that would vibrate at speed.

If you're sure the problem goes away when you let off the throttle, it's not the tires.

Have you checked the u-joints? The rear control arm bushings? Upper control arm bushings?

There's lots of things that can cause your problem, it isn't necessarily the tires. Putting a car up on a lift can cause all kinds of things to move around, especially on 20+yr old cars.

Is it vibrating in certain speed windows? (45-50mph) Do you feel it in the seat, or in the steering wheel?

It is possible that the tires you have just don't like the car they're on. I've had Caddys that will vibrate with anything but Michelins.

A true balance requires weights on the inside and outside of the wheel rims.....I don't care about how it looks, I care about how it works. Get away from stick-on weights....use clip on rim weights on inside and outside of your wheel. A stick on weight in the center of the wheel is not sufficient for true balance. If this doesn't make it better, you need to check your ball joints, upper and lower control arms, center links, in other words, Ib, your whole front suspension, for worn out parts. Even the disc rotor in the front could be out of balance due to wear, over heating, warping, etc. Why do I say this? It happened to me, I thought it was an imbalanced tire and it turned out to be an upper control arm bushing worn. Do everything in front you can, just don't focus on one specific area......balanced wheels and the whole front end all have to work together. Hope this helps. And keep up on your guitar! Keep practicing!!!! Brucie says so!

hello people; Bruce Urie you make sense so on my home I talked to the shop and now there going to do the road force balance but incorporate the use of the outer rim. The rims definitely look better without the weights but if they don't work correct there useless. Now to get the car there. Maybe next week and if that doesn't work I'll start looking at the front end.
I've been working alot so I haven't messed with the axe. It sucks trying to play and your head not into it.

Hello people; The latest is I took the car back and was going to give up with the inside weights. I was going to go with the clip on the rim ones that are coated. The car cums out and there's no out side weights. Now they say the lip of the rim is too wide for clip ons but but they did the road force again. But they want to go for a ride with me. We do and he says's yes there is a min.vibration and I have to talk to the manager tomorrow and discuss what to do next. They have said they ck'd the front end a couple of times and it looked good. Right! So I went to a shop I use to deal with in the past and had it checked. I need rt.front upper control arm bushings and sway bar bushings too. Hopefully this BS will cum to an end soon. Funny those urethane sway bar bushings don't last.
almost done with this tire thing and off to something else.
thanks for putting up with this without someone telling me off.

Keep us informed, IB. I know it's frustrating. I wouldn't blame you for being almost done with the tire thing....it's just a bitch sometimes. And don't fret about being told off...that's what we are all here for, buddy....to help you out. Don't forget that. And I view you as an extra cool guy, because you're a guitar player. Like me. So, let us know how it turns out and please ask questions if you need help....on this problem or anything else. We are all friends here, right? Have them show you the right front upper control arm bushings and sway bar bushings where they are worn. See for yourself. If they ARE worn, you've most likely found your problem. Same thing happened to me years ago. How long ago did you put on urethane sway bar bushings? They are supposed to last....if not...you must be racing at Daytona at high speeds a lot. Anyway, get those things fixed and you may have solved your problem. Any worn front suspension part should require immediate attention anyway. We want you to be safe and happy.

hello people; as of 11/03/10--- I got the car back but couldn't get up on the highway to give it the real test. Around the streets I found it better and the noise I was getting in the right front is gone and I do believe it's finally over. I might get the tire place to replace the ones on the car as I don't think there quite correct. They'll swap out for the ones I had bought but I might upgrade to a better tire for mo-money.
The urethane bushing I had where in a few years and they didn't look bad but the sway bar had movement in them and I agreed to get new ones.
Too bad I had to get the front end alaignment done again for even mo-money.

why did u have to get an alignment?

hello peoples; I do believe I got pork-ed on that one. I did ask and he said you should with the new bushings. Sway bar and upper control arm. I new it wasn't true and I let it ride. I'm taking it as payment for the time it took to inspect the front end. I could of be a hard ass but I let it go. Funny I can be a hard-on at times and a *****-cat too. It helped I liked the guy and just to
add he said there was all kinds of good comments on the car when it was there. TB are not seen to often I guess.
