My tlink is displaying that when the car is running it's receiving from the ecm the it displays idle for a second. When I record a run it is displaying crazy things and pulling trouble codes that I know is wrong. What would cause this?

First off...

What version T-link you running? What OS you running? What kinda laptop you using?

But, it sounds to me like your ECM has a bad ground.

I've also seen things like that when the parallel port isn't configured correctly or you have other software (like a fax program) trying to access the port.

Failing that, it might be a bad ground in the car, or a cable problem.

Where is the ecm ground at?
I'm running the 2.13 version using dos on the computer. The computer is a Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX.
It use to run fine with no problems, just trying to get some opinions on what to look for.

Hooked it up to a friends car and it did the same thing. Either the computer or line?

Sounds like it's the port setting or the cable. Are you running this from a DOS box in Windows or are you going straight to a command prompt on boot? Also, check the parallel port settings in the BIOS and make sure it's set to either ECP or EPP.

I agree with Jeremy, except one thing:

Make sure the BIOS setting is NOT ECP. ECP sometimes causes problems since they used this standard for parallel port periphials (like floppy drives and CDs).
