Ok here is the deal I have a cheater nitrous kit downstairs from a previous project and need to know if I should hold onto it to add to my gn at a later date or sell it and buy other performance parts for my gn. What do you think?

Come on someones got to have an opinion.By the way I know I would have to change from the 4bbl plate. Also for a list of upgrades I have done to the car look at my sig.

High 10's and still keep it somewhat streetable.By somewhat I mean sunoco race fuel. But still able to cruise and idle well. And don't have to work on it every day. What do I need that I don't have to get there??

Should I just concentrate on boost and forget the nos?

I can't answer your question. I could only give you advice if you were looking for a milder setup. To me, hi 10s is a race car and prone to breakage whatever you use.

I am sure that TURBOTR will chime in here and give you a thumbs up on the nitrous use. I will probably experiment with it a bit when the GN gets back together. ERIC.:)

i havent used Nitrous on my buick yet but what to soon, I have used a 125 shot on my trans am for 2 years and no problems. Im probably going to go with a nx wet kit for the buick and use a 75 shot.. :p

I LOVE NITROUS (it smells good)

i went to a 150 shot quite a while ago and have had no problems.... except i hit the button too soon a few weeks ago and had a backfire and blew my mas airflow sensor into little tiny pieces as well as every soft joint on my cold air intake. good thing i had my air cleaner off or i would have probably killed my turbo or manifold.... if you do it get a WOT throttle switch or one you can progrem to come on at a certain rpm. i think that is what i'm going to do.. actually i'm kicking adding a 50 shot to get me off the line then the kicking the 150 shot.... i dont know!!

Yea I have a nos cheater plate system with a throttle microswitch, purge valve, and blowoff tube.Still trying to decide if i should sell the whole thing,Along with my two existing turbo's and 009 injectors and step up to a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and a t+ and extender chip. Also think I may replace my o2 with a denso unit so I can run race fuel anytime I want and not worry about the sensor as much

I'M GLAD YOU HAD NO PROBLEMS USING NOS..........EXCEPT POSSIBLY BLOWING YOUR MOTOR APART........... :p

this car has been running this same engine with at least a 125 shot for about 7 years now and raced often..and it has held up fine... 135,000mi normal wear and tear items were changed more often but over all no problems.... the nitrous back fire was operator error on my part... i got a little jumpy racing a 2002 vett and wanted to get a good jump off of the line... could have messed every thing up real good though... i was lucky... and the vett would have beat me anyway..

one thing about nitrous though if you use it run race gas i think that has been the key to my engine's long life...

If you had mentioned the longevity of your system, I wouldn't have made a comment. However, those who read your comments will probably pass right over the race gas recommendation. I'm a believer in experience proven systems such as yours, and also my $150, non-fogger, non-hi-pressure, non EXPENSIVE, alcohol system. ;)

i have a new engine in my garage that i'm building (doesn't everyone) its pretty much done... i'm kicking around going to propane or alchohol... the thing is though as far as bang for the buck goes you can't beat No2... i wonder if you can run both nitrous and alchohol??? hmmm anyone ever tried it?? how much boost are you able to run with your alky set up?

I think that Nitrous got a bad wrap a few years back because people were not tuning their cars to run on the nitrous. You can not use 24 degrees timing, 91 octane, 18 psig boost and a 100 shot of squeeze and expect the turbo engine to live.

From what I have read, keep the timing low (18 degrees seems good), limit the boost, do not get too greedy with the unit, and at all times, run the highest octane gas that you can.

When the ol' TR gets back together, I am gonna experiment with some Nitrous. I figure a 50 shot would be nice. ERIC.:)

Right now I'm running at 24#s. I'm not looking to run any higher boost. I'm not interested in running 10s. Low 12s at 115 mph with street tires is all I want. I'm pretty close. I freshened my shortblock over 50,000 miles ago, heads and cam have 235,000 miles on them........I'd say my motor's well broken in. I'd like it to stay together for another couple years. ;)

taffy..
you could run more than a 50 shot i'm running this with a stock chip on race gas... when you hit the button it sets you back in your seat!

i DON'T SEE THE BENEFIT OF NOS. IF YOU USE IT, YOU TURN DOWN THE BOOST AND TIMING TO LET THE MOTOR LIVE. IF YOU DON'T USE IT, JUST RUN THE ADDED BOOST THAT YOU CAN'T RUN WITH THE NITROUS? LOOKS LIKE 6 OF ONE, 1/2 DOZEN OF THE OTHER TO ME.....

i'm not saying that nitrous is the best thing in the world but it is cheap, effective and if used properly, safe.... like i said in the above quote...my engine has held up to at least a 125 shot for 7 years. i've Never blown a head gasket... i keep the boost low 15 lbs .. the timing is stock and i turned the fuel pressure up and run race gas and thats it... no custom down pipes , no 3" exhaust, no custon chip, i have a regular muffler, i run through 1978 cast iron exhaust manifolds. and my car should run 12's consistantly if i could get traction that is.

the down side is when you get nitrous you get the urge to start calling nitrous "naaaws", put on some vinyl graphics 29 inch rims, a wing of a Kenworth truck and some bump in the trunk if ya know what i'm saying..... aww yeah!!!.. i'll run 9's for sure ...WHACK! i just smacked some sense into my self.. whew...

HMMMMMM!

GEEi wonder were i stand.... i say if you want to shave off a second or 2 ... hang on to it...Or you can cash in your 401k and go the other route ......Man i feel light headed i think one of my bottles is leaking:D :D :D :D :D
