The rules are strict because they want to show that 90% of musclecars really ran 14's or slower stock, regardless of what people at Barrett Jackson think.
For less strict rules they have the FAST class for ringers and 500 cubic inch 426's.
The popularity of races like this makes a TR more valuable to the collector.
HMMMM........ Stock downpipe, stock aircleaner, stock exhaust with NO straight through muffler, NO sticky tires, stock susension with no aftermarket shocks, I think a TR might have a tougher time than you think. Would be intersting and fun though. I wish we would bring back Turbo Buick Stock appearing racing.

It's hard because there is no problem filling an event card like this in the tristate area. As soon as you add any engine or raise the year to 80 you will have a 1000 more cars showing up. Besides it's meant to be a purist type event.

Not when a "vacuum leak" will get you 23 psi of boost.
I loved stock appearing racing, too as it gives guys like me a chance to use my cheating abilities.
It would be way easier and cheaper to build a TR or TTA that conformed to the FAST rules that would clean all the big blocks clocks. Low 11's @ 123+ would be no sweat.
