torque converter lock up or non LU?

I am rebuilding the 200R4 trans in my daily driver Nova and would like to get a different converter than the current D5. My TTA has a ProTorque 2800 with a Janis trans that is excellent. I read an article in GMHTP magazine that states that a car will be quicker with a non-lock up converter. My Nova runs 12.0 @ 115 corrected so it maybe could use a higher stall speed than the D5.

Should I get a lockup or non lock up? I am looking for a 2800-3200 stall with good street manners. Would the car be faster in the quarter with one converter versus the other?

Thanks in advance.

faster with or with out.... I doubt.... last longer w/o maybe... unless you get a Hi-Po LU one.
