i am rebuilding my trans and i would like to know whare to get a good converter my engine aint built much just a stock ported turbo, a comp cam 1 step up from stock, 30# injectors. thats all

I had a 2800 stall 12" LU and the car ran great nice spoolup felt good.

no i am going to rebuild it in 2 weeks and i need to find a new converter i might race it later so i want a streetable converter that works on the track as close a best of both worrlds as i can get.

TTYPE85 what turbo are you running? I going to go with one of bruces streched D5 I plan on getting my T33 rebuilt to a 49 I'am just making sure that I will be able to spool good.

fwiw,you can run a 33/49 with the stock d5 no problem.i ran my ta-60 with the stock convertor for a while and the lag was minimal.i went with one of bruce's 9/11 lockup convertors(2800)and i've been happy with it.

it's been my experience that most lag/spoolup problems have been fuel related,usually running too rich.that'll make you a slug every time.

I was running a stock turbo.

I know on the IC cars 2800 stall and a 49 is a REAL good combo. I don't really see there being that much spoolup difference.

My t-33 with stock converter sucks buit I also didn't have a scan tool at that time either. I thought it could have been the V1 intake giving me prblems but when I wiped a cam it took the turbo with it so I threw the stocker back on and that thing spools great. Do you know what center section a t-33 uses, and what it usually cost to get a turbo upgraded? It'a a John Craig turbo I'am just trying to decided if I just want a rebuild or upgrade.

I also run one of Bruce's 9/11 convertors. Best of both worlds. Excellent streetablilty and nice and loose when you mash the pedal. I had the stock turbo when I had that convertor in. It took about 4 feet for the turbo to spool.
