touch start

I'm in the middle of installing the touch start. Before I cut into the starter wire, however, I wanted to test the system - no joy, the led does not illuminate. Must the heavy gauge wires be spliced in before the led lights up? Just to be clear: yellow to IGN1, red to BAT (confirmed 12v on both), white to led and blacks to ground, only the starter splice wires have not been connected (purple not connected, either). Can Dennis or someone familiar with the system confirm the led should NOT illuminate unless the starter wire is spliced into?

I am at home so I honestly do not know however, the directions are very very detailed with photos as it was done off a car. Worse case on the wire you cut in your harness keep the ends so you can reattach if once installed something is not working correctly. However these units are made locally for us in the USA and we have had virtually zero problems with them.

The LED lite needs power to work and is triggered by the printed circuit in the black box....so I would hook the entire unit up first.

It has never been installed in a car that I am aware of with an air bag....problem is with so many new gizmos and electronics I don't want to market it for those vehicles. Chances are it would not have any affect but most of the newer cars have factory alarms that are more sophiscated and this may interfer with the factory system.

But for any Gbody car this is the hot ticket for being simple/effective plus sets automatically nothing to remember.

Like I said the product has been pretty much problem free...once in a great while some owners have discovered the oils in their fingers don't transfer the circuit without a little effort.

Like I said the product has been around for us since the early 1990s. I have a local guy that assemblies them.

We are looking at another idea for safe guarding your pride and joy. Any kind of luck we will have it available sometime in late April. It would work in conjunction with the touch and start system or without it.

Its to our companies advantage to help you keep the car in your possession!

I bought one of these and love it. I challenged my father in law to start it in an hour and I gave him the keys. He has been in the car when I have started the car numerous times and he gave up after half an hour. He now wants me to put one on his 87 Aerocoupe. I told him the looks of his car is it's own security system. Nobody wants that ugly sob.

Nothing is theft proof but it is a very good deterrent.

It is a clever idea as ones that have the system in their car. Long as you touch the screw with the wire going to it you are not limited to touching the same section of metal with your other hand it can be any metal in the car. A better trick is to run the wire to an existing metal screw so it looks factory rather than install a new screw for the one thing you have to touch. As for the areo coupe....you hit th enail on the head the one worth even less money and even looks worse is the Pontiac version. Two cars were positive proof rariety does not translate into high values.

back when I was selling turbo regals I turned down several of these that owners wanted to trade towards the Turbo Buicks...didn't matter to me if they were low mileage or any color but burgundy I did not want it as a trade.
