are tow dolly's a good i dea, or is better to get a full trailer?
with tow dolly i figure i could get away with using one pipsqueak truck like a ranger or S-10 to tow my turbo buick do tow dolly's put alot strain on the car its towing, like the frame rear axel and suspension
thanks every body

Full trailer is best.
If you are going to use a tow dolly, then you will need to remove the drive shaft. Front wheels goes on the dolly.

I rented a tow dolly from Uhaul once. They said that it worked for the Regal, and it even listed the GN. I had to put blocks under the ramps to make it more gradual when I pulled it on, so that the air dams did not hit. The platform that the front tires rest on pivots when you turn corners. The directional molded into the fender dented my door when I took a sharp turn. Check all of this out before you get a dolly. I prefer a full trailer. Plus, as mentioned already. you have to pull the driveshaft. You aren't supposed to tow over 45 mph with it in place. Even that, I wouldn't want to do.

The reason for removing the drive shaft is to protect the tranny.
On our tranny the pump doesn't turn or work when the drive shaft rotates.

I have a friend that used a GN to tow a GN on a dolly to Bristol from Charlotte a few years back. He removed the drive shaft for both legs of the trip. He never mentioned any problems.

I even have a pic somewhere of the dolly and GN attached to the towing GN. Looked cool. :)

(Plus he even let me race the towing GN. His wife freaked since if his race car broke AND I broke the towing one, they would have been stranded.)

when i purchased my gn, i used a full trailer. i got my 94 jeep grand cherrokee to tow it:D from rockchester,ny to miami, flo:eek:

You can tow it with a dolly using just about any vehicle this side of a moped however, stopping it will be interesting to say the least since a dolly doesnt have brakes. Also, backing a dolly is a PIA and backing one with a car on it is an even bigger PIA.

Short distances or across town towing with an S10/Ranger is prolly ok but I wouldnt attempt any significant distance as the odds are high youll have to make a quick evasive manuever or panic stop due to some other idiot driver. A too small of a tow vehicle will turn the manuever into an accident REALLY easy.

Those tennis shoe trucks are a joke, So i guess im looking a Fullsize and full trailer how much do trailer's cost?
thanks every body
