Im going Accel DFI, is it worth it to get a tps tec, or is this thing just a gimmick?

Scott

i use it and like it, i always had a hell of a time trying to get the right voltages, i would rather pay the $70 or what ever i paid for than go through the hassle playing with voltmeters and scan tools trying to get it set without the tps-tec.

This thing send a "WOT voltage" to the computer when the throttle is actually about 75% open, correct?

Can it be set to send the WOT voltage at 50% thottle or other values?

At what voltage does the computer consider WOT?

And at that voltage, does the computer go into "power enrichment" mode?

According to Dennis Kirban "WOT" voltage is 4.55 volts and i believe the tps tec comes in at 60% throttle in every gear and delivers 4.60 volts. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I removed my tps tec and did notice a difference. the tps tec could get me past 4.8 volts. But It didnt really show to help. While now I had a hard time getting 4.6. but nonetheless I am now at 4.60WOT and .40 at idle.

I second the gimmick, Unless for some reason you can't get the voltages needed (which I have yet to see in 15 years) Put the money in something you need!

I noticed in the original thread you said you are going to an Accel DFI. I have never used the Accel DFI, but have the FAST DFI system in my car. I don't think you could use the TPS TEC with the DFI. I'm just speaking in terms of the FAST system, but it doesn't have a PE mode. And the adjustability of a DFI is just SOOOOOOOO GREAT that the TPS TEC would be completely SILLY IMHO!!! In fact I'm pretty sure it would screw up the DFI because of the "step-change" in TPS voltage, it would make the DFI think you are stepping down on the pedal REALLY fast when you may be only going from 60% open to 61% open. That would cause the DFI to pump in loads of fuel, etc. depending onhow you had it setup.

So, you bandaid a problem that should be fixed? And it corrects a mis adjusted idle voltage also?? ;)

You're definately kidding yourself.
