It's the crude way(if you have no scan tool), but I stuck a thin sewing needle through the insulation of both the blue(voltage supply) and grey(sensor input) wires. Then hooked my voltmeter(set to DC) to these. A digital will be the most accurate. I had to rat-tail file the slot on my TPS to get the right readings through the throttle range. It took some gyrations, but I got it!! That was on my '85. My '87 was just set to .46v at idle, and a Caspers TPS enhancer added. Much easier!!

No need to prick through the insulator. Just stick the pin/paper clip etc through the back of the connector where the wires go into it. Blue is the one with the #'s you will be needing to test. Just turn the car to "run" without starting the car. Put the + lead of the meter on the back probe and the - on a ground. Take a reading at idle and then take one at WOT.
