tractor fluid

Ok, I have looked back thru all the posts in decending order to try to find the post about "tractor trans fluid" and can't find it anywhere. We just got a Sam's Club at the beginning of the month and they have tractor fluid in 5 gallon buckets for $12 and I wanted to find out if it is the right stuff. It is part #1244. Is this the stuff or do I have to go to a tractor supply place to get it?

If it is NOT Chevron it may not be the right stuff. I went to the Chevron website and found a local dealer and bought it there.

try typing "tractor" in the seach field I did it and had over 30 matches I'm sure it will give you what you are looking for.

Use Mobilfluid 424 DON'T use 424 lite. Look in the yellow pages under petroleum or oil distributors and find one that sells Mobil products. They will have it or can get it for you. A 5 gal bucket is about $35. Works great, however its not a magic fix for anything wrong with your transmission.

Nothing wrong with the trans. I built it back in 97 and it still kicks just like day one. Just wanted to do a service here within the next few weeks and was going to try the tractor fluid instead of 1/2 Dexron and 1/2 Amzoil, which is already in there. I'll find the Mobilfluid 424 and use that. Thanks.

Both are recommended for top-up and refill of transmissions, final drives, hydraulics, power steering, wet brakes, PTOs and hydrostatic drives in farm, contractor and industrial tractors. Mobilfluid 424 is approved against John Deere J20A and J20C, Allison C-4 and Caterpillar TO-2. Mobilfluid LT is approved against John Deere J20D and Caterpillar TO-2. Both are approved against Ford New Holland M2C134D, Massey Ferguson M1135 and M1141, White New Idea, Kubota, Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2, and many others.
