Hey guys,
I have an enclosed trailer for the Buick and the standard self drilling screws that secure the panels are an absolute joke. They tend to work themself loose, and can no longer be tightened. I would like to replace all the screws with non-self drilling screws with a black head. Pic of trailer attached.

I have searched google and can't believe the next size up with a black head is that hard to find. Looking to do it right or not at all.

Any of you have a solution for this issue?

Thanks man, also the reason for the CTD. Lol

Just chatted with an agent and they are sending me a sample to try of that exact screw. Maybe I will also glue them in with silicone. (Thinking)

Ace has the zinc oxide coated ones in lots of sizes.

Not sure what the interior is like or if you can get to the inside of where the screws are with a hammer and or punch to 'size' the holes a little and use some red locktite on the screw threads so they don't vibrate loose.
I'm sure if you search hard enough some type of screw with extended threads might be found but sheer luck would have them with a black head.
I'd still do the lock tite on each fastener when reinstalling.

The inside has paneling and was trying not to turn this into a major project. My perfect solution would be to remove all interior panels to see exactly what's going on. I know the screws go into wood, so from.the start, the original screws are incorrect. Origonal is a standard screw, used on all trailers.

Pic of the inside.

Well that is a good. You need some tooth picks and wood glue. Two to four tooth picks glued into each hole and run the original screws in. I'd run the screws in while the glue is wet and it will dry and hopefully hold the screws in. It'll never be 'right' as wood expands and contracts too much. And you will end up doing constant maintenance with a deal like that. I thought the screws went into metal. And if those are the "star" head fastener invest in some driver bits . Just easier to not cam out the fastener.

That is going to be a monotonous project! Good luck.
