Hey everybody. wouldn't that be an interestin name for a fine French wine? Anyway, Im sumwhat perplexed about my transmission. Around November when it realy started to get cold, my transmission started to whine when in gear. The sound seems to vary depending on the speed of the car. Im not sure if there is any corolation between the cold and the noise but I thought that it would be useful to incude it. anyway, I stored the car for the winter late in November and just got it out today and the whine is still there. Any ideas on what it could be.

Another interesting happened in november after the whine started. One day i was forced to drive the car while on dilevery for the local pizza place. After one dilevery, i put the car into drive and subsequently found out that the car would not shift out of second gear. I limped all the way back to the resturant in second. a buddy of mine told me to get low into second gear and then mash the gas so that the trannie would shift down into first. when i tried it the car shifted down into first and then shifted fine through all four gears. I figured that maby one of the valves had stuck so i put in some lucas transmission fix and i haven had any problems shifting since then.

are these two problems related?
any info on eather?

thanks

They very well could be related. A whine that varies with vehicle speed could be a bearing or planetary going down in the transmission. That can generate metalic particles which invariably cause sticking valves.

Drop the pan and see what may be lurking in the bottom.

MeanBuicks is right...could be that.
It also sounds like the problem I had when my bearing went out in my TC.

My tranny used to whine real bad. Sounded kinda like I had a supercharger. Turned out to be a planetary.
