I finished installing my PTE front-mount this weekend and had this crazy idea of mounting my B+M Supercooler right in front of the intercooler because there is no place else for it...I figured it wouldn't hurt matters very much since the tranny cooler is a plate cooler and you can easily blow air through it...so I assume the intercooler will see plenty of air...the tranny cooler is in the middle of the intercooler taking up about 1/3 the space of the entire intercooler...good or bad? I got the dual ramchargers fans and a brand new aluminum f-body radiator...

also I mounted my fans but there's about 1-1.5" clearance between the radiator and the back of the fan assembly...does the fan system HAVE to be flush against the radiator or can there be a little gap like there is now? I can't get it any closer to the radiator because I didn't want to go to extremes as far as making my own brackets and cutting into the fans...will I be ok???

Waste of money. 1/3 of what you just spent on that intercooler is now gone. That cooler will heat the air before it hits the IC.

Put the transmission cooler behind the IC. You can also mount them horizontally and fab an air dam to force air up into it.

Mount it more towards the side where the outlet of the IC is...The air should be slightly cooler on that side of the IC...

If there is open gap around the edge of the fan between it and the radiator - it will lose much of it's efficeincy... certainally with that intercooler, condenser, and tranny cooler already blocking airflow.

Another option for the tranny cooler is to mount it between the air dams where the stock intercooler scoop used to be...mount it at about a 45 degree angle up close to the bumper between the dams...use some metal strapping and fab some brackets...you can use existing holes in the bumper and radiator support to mount the brackets...that's the way I have mine with a V2...

I have mine mounted flush up against the radiator. I stuck it between the X frames in front of the radiator. I've had it like this for quite some time and it doesn't seem to affect either tranny or boost temps. I am thinking of getting a fan and mounting it to the tranny cooler and moving it beside the battery or where the stock i/c used to be.

Since I removed my AC I put mine behind the FrontMount and in front of the radiator. I have seen people mount the tranny cooler on an angle between the air damn like MSDGN said. That would probably be the best spot for your setup.

Here is a link to a thread to a neat way to mount your ramchargers fans up to a be-cool rad. http://turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=113160&highlight=rotalocs
I am in the middle of a big wrench turning mess. I removed the stock turbo and installed a TA-49. I replaced the timing chain gears and chain, timing chain cover, oil pump, water pump, Be cool rad, B+M super cooler trans cooler, and PTE front mount. I laid on my back in the rain and got the timing chain cover back on today. Tomorrow I hope to get the oil pump primed and the Be-cool in, maybe the PTE finished. I am getting too old for this, between the mud and the grease and the swearing, I feel like I am ready for a nursing home. Oh well maybe after a few beers and a good night sleep I will be ready to go again.

Good luck Don!

I mounted my tranny cooler in front of the A/C condenser all the way at the bottom. I had to space the precision front mount out just a little to clear the tranny cooler. My tranny temps stay good and cool. Don't forget to block off the space at the bottom of the bumper to the core support so the air doesn't all go out the bottom and not thru the intercooler and radiator.

well here's what I ended up doing...

I moved the tranny cooler to underneath where the battery sits on the passenger side. The cooler is angled about 45 dgrees facing down at the road and is about level with the bottom of the air dam...it is wire-tied nice and snug with very heavy duty ties and it looks like it should see some air...I think once I get this car rolling I am going to install a small electric fan right on top of the cooler for added air flow...but I think this is the best location for me plus I didn't feel like taking out the intercooler and radiator and all of that just to stuff a tranny cooler in there...this tranny is fresh and rebuilt and I want the cooler to see its own direct air flow...the lines are on top of the cooler going up into the engine compartment and out of the way...no chance of anything hitting them...

anybody running a small fan on their tranny cooler and getting good results with it???

I was just looking at some pictures of some guys that have installed a small fan right on top of their cooler...that looks exactly what I want...I'm gonna get one of the smaller 6.5" fans that Spal has...like $50...not bad

Get that fan assembly flush to the radiator. It'll be worthless unless you do.

I just installed my RC fan assembly - piece of cake.

I made two small brackets out of aluminum strap that mount to the stock upper mounting point and then riveted it to the RC fan shroud.

I used the stock lower bracket (removed from original fan) flipped it around backwards and used it to pinch the bottom up tight to the radiator.

You have to cut the four molded in brackets off of the RC fan.

My trans cooler is mounted behind the FMIC infront of the condenser on two riser brackets that I made out of the core support X rods (had to remove them to get the FMIC to fit).
