Bought new GN replacement oem radiator a few years back. Just tried putting it in and the tranny cooler line brass 90's are the wrong size. Those were the original 90's. Looks like the radiator has a different size fitting. Does anyone know what size those are. It looks like 5/16. Also does anyone make a 5/16 npt to 5/16 inverted 90?

I had to get adapters.. Hardware store i think.. i am no longer running the same radiator due to a slip of the wrench .I can look tomorrow and make sure i didn't hide them from myself if you can't get them in your area.

Mine just reduce and the 90* factory line screws in to it. Never had problem with clearance with factory lines, but damaged the 90*'s and the stub up lines when i installed my new alradco (slight drip).i will post a pic. Tomorrow. Now that i think of it I did pick them up at a local hydraulic parts house.

Can't find a 5/16 to 5/16 inverted flare 90. If you guys know where I can buy them I would appreciate it

Best to measure the pipe thread size. It may "look" like 5/16. I think it's 1/4".
The OEM is 1/8".
If it's really 1/4, you have many sources.
FWIW, I have a "fairly complete" set of pipe dies and taps...No 5/16" in it.
My new Alradco has the oem, 1/8" npt bungs.

I also looked thru my CAT engineering spec book, and my drill/tap card. No such thing as a 5/16"npt...Not in my book, anyway.
O'reilly has the Dorman oem fitting Pt# 43036
Here's a link to the 1/4" fitting.

thanks for all your info. I greatly appreciate it

These are the adapters I used on my stock like radiator to factory lines setup. With my new AlradCo I was able to use the factory 90*'s directly into the cooler ports without couplers. Now i cant get the flares to stop leaking at the factory 90*. I have been following this in hopes of finding an alternative to the factory hardlines around the radiator. Maybe some type of braided flexible lines with 2 less front connections.

Looks to me that the adapter is a flare to pipe. It should be 1/4" npt male to 5/16" inverted flare. A flare fitting is strait thread, and won't seal in a pipe threaded hole.

That was my adapter on the aftermarket radiator. The threads will not run into the stock or alradco radiators. To the original poster. If this is something you can use and can't find let me know and we'll make arrangements to ship them over to you
