hi guys, maybe someone here could shed some light as to my tranny problems. the tranny is an Eric Schertz non l/u hi-po with a vigilante tc. i went to the track last friday to get some testing done. i shift this tranny manually at 6k rpm. well on the second pass i went to make the 2-3 shift and it didnt engage, just revved up really fast. so i let off and it dropped in and finished the run. returning to the pits i then felt my tranny taking a long time to make the 1-2 shift. so i packed it up and went home. i drove it around the next day and it was the same. i also tried a quick wot blast and on the kick down it wouldnt shift and just revved up. if i layed into it gradually it will go wot fine as long as it doesnt down shift. any thoughts 200 4r gurus??? is this 1500 dollar tranny toast?

Govenor spring took a ride........
Drop pan and look for it.

Bruce thanks for the tip. i'm gonna have my good buddy Russ Merritt check it out this weekend. he said something about pinning it in. i hope thats all it is as it does seem ok otherwise. i didnt call Eric cause i'm cheap and this is free! j/k! i trust the words of many here as some of the best 200 builders comment here.

Not the spring.......It looks to be a band/anchor problem as the servo pin goes in without tightening the band. Possible band anchor. We'll find out in a bit.

based on your info it sure sounds like something other than a governor spring, especially if it just revs up on a kickdown.give eric a call and follow his lead, after all it is his product and he is not well known for nothing.i would bet my you know what that russ will find the problem though.lol.the guy has became obsessed/mesmerized by valve bodies.

we'll see tomorrow, the tranny is out. it was almost time to be freshened up anyways. theres no slipping into the gears just messed up downshifts and delayed 1-2 shift. Russ is a good guy, he'll take care of it.

Chris, Does the #3 mean anything to you? :D 3 shall be thy number that thou count and the number of the counting shall be three. No more, no less. I will find out what it is and fix it with the best parts I can possibly get. "Possibly" being the key word. ;)

OK, turned out to be a broken band anchor. I was a little surprised to find a little 1 3/4" band in a hi-pro trans  Figured it would have the Alto big boy in there, it does now with the indestructable PTS band anchor. She should be good as new Matt :)
