Tranny makes noise when put into reverse

My 86 GN recently had the transmission rebuilt and has been working great. I've noticed though that when I put it into reverse and sit there with my foot on the brake there is a vibrating metal sound that persists until I put the car into drive. Any ideas on what it might be. When I put it into drive I sometimes hear the loud clunking sound, but this is a steady metal on metal vibrating sound that only happens when the car is at idle and in reverse. I'll take it back to the shop that built the tranny, but I would like some ideas on possible causes before I go. Thanks

Try taking the dust cover off the trans and see if it don't go away? just for staters.

tranny noise

in reverse. The engine torques to the left and if they replaced the tranny mount as well, this raises the tranny up into the floor a little more. It sounds like the downpipe from the turbo is hitting the firewall or the floor at the bend of the floor. In drive the motor torques to the right and the downpipe goes away from the floor, hence the noise goes away. If this is the case, some simple tweaking on the floor/seem or downpipe should fix the problem. just my thought...

If it does it in Manual low also, then it is PR buzz and kinda normal, wont hurt anything, and if nothing else a tad annoying. But detrimental, no.
