Well, ive known for a while that my tranny hasnt been up to par on my 87 GN. Ive been taking it easy, unless running at the track. Well, last night a had a couple friends in my car and they wanted the full tour, so to speak. So, i rev up to 2000rpms and launch hit 55 really quick like, cept it sticks there and wont shift, and you can hear the tranny grinding the hell out of itself. Upon hearing that, i slow down and just cruise back to the party. On the way home, i get on it and it drops down to 3rd, but sticks there and wont shift into 4th (at 5500rpm) so i let off and decided to just let it be until i garage it for the winter. So this leads me to my actual question, who does the best tranny work for the money? I want a 2800 stall and an art carr shift kit, unless someone knows a better combination i can use.
Thanks,
Adam Rohrbach

My friend had burned out 3 700's in his camaro with less hp and torque than im running right now. I'm just going for a strengthening rebuild and some performance out of the good old girl. It might work, i can inquiry some people about it, but i like i said, ive just seen bad experiences with them.

The 700 is suppose to be stronger, and cameros usually deal a quick blow to the tranny unlike TR's spool up method.

Just depends on what you want to do.

A 2004R will work fine. Plenty of good places here for trannies. I'd rather have a 200 than a 700 anyday. Mine hits em hard behind 500+hp.

As far as quality work for the money, personally I recommend CK Performance located in New York.

They have high quality parts and excellent service. I can vouch for both as I have their parts in my trans, and had the pleasure of meeting Chris K at the recent Buick vs Mustang event at Englishtown. he had 4 cars running his trannies, and he also gave us a clinic on what makes a tranny work and how they break while we sat there in the stands.

Check out their website for the product offering:

Did someone actually say a 700 is stronger without putting a ha ha ha after it? Wow, I was away too long huh? Mark :D

There was no ha ha ha when you said a 200R4 could be built as strong as a turbo 400 lol.

I thought so in my opinion. I just dont feel a properly built 200 can be as strong as a properly built 400 as you said. Again just my feelings
