I just had my tranny rebuilt and I have a 3000 stall from pats performance converters. I am running a TE-60 also. The plug for the tranny (4 prong) that goes on the side has been unplugged from the tranny since I bought the car 2.5 years ago. The trans was toast when I got it so I assume that they unplugged it to try and make it run better but I dunno. I heard that plug locks up the converter but am not too sure. So what exaclty is the plug and should I plug it back in? The car is mainly a street car but will see some track time.

First off, has the trans ever had a nonlock up convertor installed?
Did it have a non lockup valve installed?

The only reason i could think of the plug being unplugged would be
A. non lock up convertor and too lazy to install non lockup valve.
B. lockup solenoid sticking and owner unplugged to keep from tcc staying locked all the time.
C. short with the ecm solenoid circuit and blowing a fuse.

I would..... try and remember if the conv i purchased was a lockup, make sure it has a lockup solenoid and lockup valve, then definitely remember if the check ball was at the end of the trans where the conv goes...

If everything checks out, has TCC solenoid with lockup valve, lockup convertor, and has the check ball.... Plug it in and see if the RPM drops on the highway.
