My first to second shift is great but the second to third is the sh*ts:mad: It is not the firm shift when I first got the car. Has this happened to anyone else. Thanks.

Shaun

Mine feels similar to what you are describing. It does not slip but I feel like it is a little less firm. I have no idea what was in it as far as a shift kit or not, but it would never bark the tires on the 1-2 so I believe it never had a kit. I talked to Bruce and he said it may be the converter. I am going to be ordering one of his kits very soon and we'll see what happens:eek:

having a higher stall or slipping converter will do this as the
rpm's must be up higher during a shift or most of the power
used to bark the tires in 2nd gear will be absorbed through
the converter. my car used to spin the tires in 2nd gear
with a low stall converter. after i put the 2800rpm stall
converter in it wouldn't spin but still had a firm shift. another
possibility for the weak 3rd gear shift is that the clutch packs
that engage 3rd gear are loosing there holding power.
most stock clutch packs aren't designed to take hard shifts
or racing.

Shaun, I noticed the same thing with my trans shift.
1-2 felt ok, but 2-3 felt sort of lazy,
this went on for about 10k mlies, then my trans finally gave up
at 93k miles.
After rebuilding the trans, the 2-3 shift is just as wicked as
the 1-2, BIG difference:cool:

Good news

Hey guys. Just to let you know, the problem was a mal-adjusted throttle valve cabble (TV cable). Car shifts hard in 1-2 and firm in 2-3. Thank GOD!!! Blackbuick87 and MARINES85, this may be a cheap fix for your wagons as well. :)
