When driving on the freeway in OD, it's fine until i slow down to 45 mph. At 45 mph, it seems like my trans goes into another gear or something. If i try to accelerate, it wont go anywhere. I have to basically build up boost to get the dam car going. Then it takes off hard! I have to apply almost all throttle to get it going past 45 mph. Like i said, it's fine driving it 50-70mph in OD until i slow down to 45 mph then it runs like crap with no power when accelerating back up. I need feedback!

Sounds as if your converter clutch is not releasing. When you press the gas, does the engine rev up against the converter or does it bog like a manual transmission?

Weird trans problem

When the engine hits that dead spot at 45mph or so, if i try to accelerate the engine will rev up a little for a second then go back to the dead spot. I have to floor the thing to get it out of the dead spot. The car doesn't jerk back and forth or anything like that.

Possibly not related, but I had a similar problem in my '85 SS when I first installed the 200-4R and was chasing it for a while before I finally found that my TV cable had a kink in it where it was getting hung up on the TV cable sleeve. I had the same problem after any WOT run, and I could get it "back to normal" by either kicking the throttle down quickly, or putting the car in park and then back in drive. I cleared up the kink and its been fine since.

Try this. Temporarily unplug the electrical connector on the driver side of your transmission. Take it for a test drive and try to simulate the same conditions that you experience your problem.

Let us know what happens.

I'm having about the same problem with mine

Great that you can find stuff like this in the archives. :)

CRS- Mine's doing about the same thing, but I think it is a little less severe a problem than you describe. Did you get it solved?
