Sorry for the dumb question but this has been bugging me for a while.

For the past 9 months, everytime I check my tranny fluid (once a week) it is always at the same level (top of the S). Is this normal? I mean, isn't some fluid suppose to burn away or something? My tranny has no leaks what so ever.

Are all 2004r's like this?
TIA

if the stock market was as predictable as your dipstick we would all be rich lol .your trans is fine.

Lol.:D

I brought this up because last time I went to the track, the tranny slipped pretty bad from 2nd to 3rd on a 12.0 and a 11.9 pass (@25psi). Two weeks after that, It did it again on the street (@ 18psi). I don't know if it just needs some more fluid or if it's just starting to go bad. It was rebuilt on 7/01. Every time I pull the dip stick out, the darn thing is where it's suppose to be.

I had a feeling it was a crappy job.

the slip sounds like a direct clutch not holding pro[perly i posted some unfo on this so check the board or go to ckperformance.com and click on teck articles .some info is there or call us 4 more info

If you have a stock filter/pan setup it could just be sucking air. If over filling it makes the prob go away then you need to look into a deep pan/filter setup. If that isn't it then look for it to be a prob with band, anchor, servo or 2nd accum spring.

I think I will try this first (deep pan/filter) but are their any down sides to just over filling it? I have a tranny cooler with an electric fan (if that makes a difference).

Where do I get that set up?

overfillig is not the answer .it only causes aeration of the fluid when it is picked up by the geartrain which causes more problems .if the filter was pulling air the car would slip all the time .this was not a complaint from the assembly line and shouldnt be now .look elsewhere .the stock assembly works well even when weelstandingand if we could sit in the pan with it closed you would see why.
